Well that was fast wasn’t it?

The year has came and went and now it’s time for some much needed reflection on our parts. No matter how 2024 has been for you, taking stock and preparing for what’s next can help make walking into the new year better.

We know the holidays are here and you’re probably busy with shopping and work deadlines but don’t forget to make sure you take care of yourself in this busy season. We’ve got some practical self-care tips to help you close out the year on a positive and intentional note.

Reflection: Celebrate Milestones and Embrace Gratitude

When you take a moment to review the past year, reflection needs to be first on the list. You can reflect on 2024 in so many ways but we’ve got just the few you need to get started.

Celebrate Your Milestones

Identify the big and small wins you’ve achieved this year. Did you meet personal goals, experience growth, or overcome challenges? Take pride in your progress.

Identify Key Lessons

After reflecting on your milestones, consider what you learned from the past year’s successes but also this years challenges, as well. How have they shaped you? What can you carry forward into the new year?

Practice Gratitude

Write down at least 20 things you’re grateful for from the past year. I know 20 sounds like a lot but I’m sure when you reflect you will find 2 things you are greatful for from each month. You can even practicing being greatful for the challenges you had and the lessons they brought with them.

Release: Let Go of What Didn’t Serve You

It’s time to say bye-bye. There will be things we can’t take back and moments that we wish we could hold on to forever but now’s your chance to let go so that you can open up room the goals you are going to create.

Identify Limiting Beliefs and Habits

Reflect on what held you back this year, what didn’t work, and or any thing that needs to be let go of.

Write a Goodbye Letter

There’s no better way to let go of something than writing a good bye or thank you letter. Express what you’re letting go of in a letter to yourself. Acknowledge past pain or challenges and commit to moving forward without the weight of the past.

Renewal: Set Goals to Prioritize Yourself

Starting fresh in the new year requires clear goals, a commitment to self-care, and an inspiring vision for your future.

Set Your Goals

To get the new year started on a good foot, identify areas where you want to grow or improve, such as personal growth, relationships, career, or health. This way you can start the year with clarity and focus.

If you want to supercharge your goals, try creating a matching vision board to serve as a visual guide. Keep your vision board somewhere visible to inspire and remind you of what you’re working toward for the year.

The End of Year Reflection planner can help make planning your goals 10x easier.

Prioritize Self-Care in Your Routine

Think about how you will prioritize self care in the new year. This doesn’t need to be a detailed plan but having an idea of what you’re going to do will be helpful. This could be simple as trying new self care ideas every month, seeing a therapist, or going on a sabbactical.

Join Communities or Groups

Based on your goals, find like-minded groups, classes, or communities centered on your goals for extra encouragement and accountability.

If you have a goal to get fit, join a fitness class to motivate and hold you accountable. If better self care is one of your goals, the Self Caring Co. community is a perfect community to join. And it’s completely free.
