Hi Sandy from Florida. I am Kathy from Maryland. Since, I have the same issue, I have been doing some research, if you will. It's hard to make it a priority, I know. I am writing this to you at after 3:00 in the morning. Lol I am just getting over Pneumonia and I have slept so much from being sick that now my sleep schedule is totally turned around. Lol From what I have read and I am going to start this soon myself, you have to set an alarm for about an hour before your desired bedtime. You need to get your evening priorities done by that time and resign yourself to the fact that when the alarm goes off, you're done. At that time, you need to start doing anything you do to get ready for bed like changing into something cozy, brushing your teeth, using a face lotion... It's different for everyone, so just do what works for you. You should stop using any of your electronics like your phone, computer and TV during that wind down time. You can listen to some relaxing music, if you like and if you like to read, maybe read a book for a bit before you go to sleep (not on a Kindle). You even could light a scented candle during that time. If that doesn't appeal to you, you could try guided meditation. There are several apps that are free. Then, when it is your bedtime, turn off the lights and go to sleep. Once you have established your desired routine and bedtime, you have to be vigilant about sticking to it, so it becomes a habit.
