A little about me
I just turned 59, yesterday. I’m the youngest in my family. A mom and grandma and married 37 years. I enjoy doing puzzles. Crochet and sewing. But I haven’t been doing those things since I turned 50 and hit menopause. I also bake and find it calms my nerves. In trying to understand self-care I have come to the conclusion that self-care is anything that calms you, helps you feel better about yourself, and improves your self-esteem.

Hi Diane! Happy belated birthday!
I love your definition of self-care—most people miss the fact that self care should also improve your self-esteem, but you’re already one step ahead.
Even though you haven’t done much puzzling or crochet lately, I’m glad baking still brings you that sense of relaxation.
I also love doing puzzles. What I enjoy most is the sense of stillness they bring. I like to do them while I watch TV.
Have you thought about pairing puzzling or crochet with another activity?
